Room 2 Race, ‘The Ultimate in Virtual Motorsport Experience’ with venues in Ballymoney, Bangor & Bundoran, has become the latest organisation to pledge to Share the Road to Zero.
Room 2 Race’s pledge was made at the 2 Fast 2 Soon launch on 23rd October, 2013. Owner of the Ballymoney site Colin McAleese said, “We absolutely agree that that every road death is one too many. Room 2 Race aims to fulfil its pledge to Share the Road to Zero by encouraging all visitors to our venues and race simulators to KEEP THE RACE IN ITS PLACE, leave the racing in the simulators and drive safely on the roads by reducing speed, never ever drinking and driving, always paying attention and always wearing a seatbelt.”
Brídín Beckett from DOE Road Safety said, “Share the Road to Zero is a huge community programme with one aim – zero road deaths in Northern Ireland. In 2012 the number of road deaths in the region reached its lowest level since records began in 1931. However, at 48, these deaths have left many families heartbroken and every one of those road deaths is one too many.”
“We are delighted that Room 2 Race has joined over 100 other companies in pledging to Share the Road to Zero. The message from Room 2 Race, to KEEP THE RACE IN ITS PLACE, is vitally important for all drivers. Speed is the biggest single killer on our roads and therefore if we all drive at speeds appropriate to the conditions the number of road deaths due to speed can be reduced to zero.”
