Now, More Than Ever, It Is Important to Slow Down
As Road Safety Week comes to a close, remember that road safety is vital for every single road user all year round, not just for this week. We all have a personal responsibility to drive or ride in a way that keeps ourselves and others safe in our community.
Drivers – when making essential journeys look out for more people walking, running and cycling on the roads as they practice social distancing. Slow down and give them space. When driving in built up areas, give people walking time to cross the road and, when passing those on bicycles give them as much room as you would when passing a car – a minimum of 1.5 metres.
Take extra care and expect the unexpected. Find out why the speed limit is the absolute maximum and does not mean that it is safe to drive at that speed irrespective of the conditions.
