Keep Sharing the Road to Zero in 2014
As the year draws to a close, thoughts are with those families who lost loved ones through road tragedy in 2013. One bad choice on the road can cost someone their life and we remember that the pain of avoidable death touches families, friends and communities forever.
The New Year gives us a chance to refocus on what we can all do to Share the Road to Zero and to refresh and re-commit to our pledge to adopt safe behaviours on our roads everyday.
IS ZERO ROAD DEATH AN ACHIEVABLE TARGET?
Over 95% of crashes where someone is killed or seriously injured in Northern Ireland are due to human error and are therefore preventable.
Zero road death in Northern Ireland is therefore achievable if we all share the responsibility; drive at speeds appropriate to the circumstances everytime we go out on the road; never EVER drink or take drugs and drive; always concentrate when driving; and always wear a seatbelt in the front and rear.
